Zagreb, July 2 2019 (Hina)
Science and Education Minister Blazenka Divjak told a news conference on Tuesday that the selection of textbooks had been finished on July 1 and that they would be sent to schools on time before the start of the new school year.
School curricula were defined in January, which was a precondition for the launching of reform processes, she said.
Divjak noted that selecting textbooks with the help of an online application was a strong anti-corruption measure, designed to alleviate pressure on teachers, and that 289 textbooks by 25 publishers participated in the selection process.
The minister said that considering that it did not depend on one person, the education reform could no longer be stopped.
"A large part of the process has been completed and there is no more going back to how things used to be."
