Prof. Radovan Fuchs, Ph.D., minister of science and education, participated in the Informal meeting of Ministers for responsible for Research, which took place on February 7 - 8 2023 in Stockholm.
The informal ministerial meeting was organized by Sweden, which holds the presidency of the Council of the European Union from January 1 to June 30 to discuss open science, which is one of their presidency priorities.
During the meeting, two discussions were held. The topic of the first discussion was Research infrastructures in the digital transition – maximizing the benefit of research data where minister Fuchs pointed out that open science is one of the key principles of science in Croatia, and as such is incorporated into the recently adopted Act on Higher Education and Scientific Activity, and its importance is emphasized in all reform documents and is directly related to funding.
The second debate was held on the topic of Strengthening high-quality, open, trustworthy and equitable scholarly publishing, during which examples of good practice at the national level were given, such as digital platforms, national funding of open scientific journals and the Editorial Work Standard, Editorial Responsibility and Rights.
