Professor Radovan Fuchs, Ph.D., the Minister of Science and Education, participated in the Ministerial meeting of the OECD Committee for Scientific and Technological Policy (CSTP Ministerial) in Paris on April 23rd and 24th.
The meeting focused on endorsing a transformative science, technology, and innovation (STI) policy agenda to support sustainability transitions.
The CSTP Ministerial culminated in an action-oriented Declaration. This declaration calls on key stakeholders to:
- Adopt a transformative STI policy agenda to address climate challenges.
- Support the responsible development of science and technology based on shared values.
- Identify actions for international cooperation in these areas.
The aim of the meeting was to elevate the profile of STI within other policy areas, promoting cross-government and cross-sectoral collaboration on sustainability transitions. Additionally, the CSTP Ministerial established a roadmap for future OECD work and priorities in science, technology, and innovation.
Minister Fuchs highlighted the critical role of both international cooperation and strong vertical coordination within the research and innovation sector. He further emphasized the importance of bolstering capacities to drive and implement the digital and green transitions.
As a concluding action, the ministers adopted the "Declaration on Transformative Science, Technology and Innovation Policies for a Sustainable and Inclusive Future."
