Director-General of the Directorate for Science and Technology, Hrvoje Meštrić, PhD, participated in the European Research Area and Innovation Committee (ERAC) meeting held on 24 and 25 October in Budapest, Hungary.
Three key discussions were held at the meeting. The first discussion, entitled

On that occasion, Director Meštrić pointed out that the Republic of Croatia gave the definition of technological infrastructures in the Research Infrastructure Development Roadmap. He further stressed the importance of complementarity and connectivity between research and technological infrastructures, as well as the importance of open access and sustainability in this context.
The second debate was held on
tackling the EU's innovation paradox, while the third discussion was held on
Next steps on enhancing research security: implementing the Council Recommendation, which highlighted that this topic at national level is fragmented in terms of authority, making it difficult to address adequately. It was further underlined that the monitoring system would be an important step for sharing good practices between Member States as well as between national actors. The meeting ended with the presentation of the work programme for the period from 2025 to 2026.
