Adoption of the Croatian Open Science Plan
The Minister of Science, Education and Youth officially adopted the Croatian Open Science Plan on May 19, 2025.The Croatian Open Science Plan is a key strategic document that sets out clear guidelines and recommendations for the implementation of open science principles in the Republic of Croatia. The Plan defines activities and expectations for researchers, institutions, and policymakers, including research data management, infrastructure development, open access to scientific publications, and the alignment of research assessment systems with the principles of open science. The Plan was developed with a clear goal: to align European and international open science principles with the needs and development priorities of Croatia’s scientific system.
The Plan outlines the fundamental principles of open science, its vision and main objectives, detailed recommendations and activities, as well as the mechanisms for monitoring its implementation.
Through a comprehensive set of recommendations and activities aimed at promoting the implementation of open science principles in Croatia, the Plan contributes to faster progress, sustainable development, and the international visibility and relevance of Croatian science. Without strong infrastructure, strategic investment, and continuous professional development of researchers, open science cannot be fully achieved or sustainably developed.
