Director General for the Directorate for Science and Technology Hrvoje Meštrić participated in the meeting of the OECD Committee for Scientific and Technological Policy
The Director General of the Directorate for Science and Technology, Hrvoje Meštrić, PhD, actively participated in the meeting of the Committee for Scientific and Technological Policy of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), which took place from 23 to 25 April 2025 in Paris.
The main topic of the meeting was the publication "OECD Science, Technology and Innovation Outlook 2025", which provides an overview of global trends and challenges in the fields of science, technology, and innovation. During the discussion, OECD member states emphasised the importance of a harmonised and coordinated approach, as well as the exchange of good practices. Special emphasis was also placed on the topics of quantum technologies, research infrastructures, open science, and the safety and protection of researchers.Director General Meštrić highlighted the importance of open science as a key element in the development of research infrastructures, as well as the role of human resources in the overall research and innovation ecosystem. He stressed the need for the continuous development of skills, knowledge exchange, and access to advanced technologies in order to ensure sustainable scientific, innovation, and technological progress. He also highlighted national efforts in the field of quantum technologies and briefly presented the CroQCI project, which aims to implement experimental quantum systems and networks.
