ESA Project Management Training Held for SMEs and Industry Representatives
Today, on 5 March 2026, the Ministry of Science, Education and Youth, in cooperation with the European Space Agency (ESA), held a training session titled ESA Project Management Training intended for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and industry representatives.
The training was delivered by ESA representatives Karol Brzostowski and Arya Parikh.The training took place at the premises of the Ministry of Science, Education and Youth and attracted more than 30 participants.
The event was opened by Hrvoje Meštrić, PhD, who welcomed the participants and highlighted that such strong interest in the training reflects the growing importance of the space sector in Croatia. He emphasized that since the beginning of cooperation with ESA in 2023, Croatia has significantly increased its level of activity, with Croatian organisations having submitted more than 115 project proposals to date, achieving an impressive success rate of 50 percent.
Hrvoje Meštrić, PhD also underlined the importance of educational activities such as this one for strengthening national capacities in the field of space technologies and announced several upcoming initiatives. These include an ESA traineeship programme for graduate students and recent graduates, a conference that will bring together various ministries with the aim of enhancing interinstitutional cooperation in this sector, as well as the development of a National Space Strategy, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
Through interactive group work, participants were introduced to the fundamentals of project planning and implementation, resource and cost management, as well as methods for monitoring project activities, with the aim of strengthening capacities for successful participation in future projects.
