State Secretary doc. dr. sc. Iva Ivanković participated in the meeting of the Education, Youth, Culture and Sport Council (EYCS) on Monday, 13 May 2024, in Brussels.

At the meeting the Council Recommendation ‘Europe on the Move’ - learning mobility opportunities for everyone was adopted. The Recommendation invites Member States to include learning mobility within the EU in all forms of education and training, from school education and vocational education and training to higher education and adult education.

In addition, the ministers adopted the Council conclusions on promoting evidence-informed policy and practice in education and training to achieve the European Education Area. The document emphasizes the need to strengthen the way of thinking in the direction of evidence-informed policies and practice as well as of encouraging research in the field of education.

In the policy debate, opinions were exchanged on the topic of “AI in education and training: combining technological innovation and quality education for all”. The State Secretary highlighted that it is crucial to introduce students to both the potential and challenges of AI to enable them to apply it in everyday life and on future jobs. The national education and professional training system is preparing to meet the challenges and possibilities of AI by implementing a strategic initiative/project BrAIn that has been developed by CARNET in cooperation with the Ministry of Science and Education. BrAIn exemplifies a proactive approach to integrating AI into the Croatian educational environment, focusing on personalised and adaptive learning solutions that meet diverse students' needs, as well as on providing a smart recommendation system based on AI.
