A meeting of education ministers of the Central European Exchange Programme for University Studies - CEEPUS took place on May 15th, 2025. CEEPUS is an exchange programme for students and teaching staff, organised within thematic networks of related higher education institutions from different countries.

Dr. Hankó Balázs, the Hungarian minister responsible for higher education, in his capacity as the Chair of the Joint Committee of Ministers of the CEEPUS member states, emphasized that the mobility of students and teachers, especially in areas important for European competitiveness, has a positive impact on national systems of higher education, research, and innovation.

The CEEPUS IV agreement entered into force on May 1, 2025, thereby enabling the continuation of the CEEPUS program for the next seven-year period.

The ministers adopted the overall exchange quota for the academic year 2025/2026, totalling 7,766 months. Croatia committed to 500 months of scholarships, while Austria holds the highest quota of 1,400 months. The quotas oblige countries to award scholarships to incoming students and teachers.

The ministers adopted the CEEPUS Work Programme for the 2025-2027 period, which includes a new category: joint intensive short programmes.

The ministers supported continued cooperation with Ukraine, whose students and teachers can participate in the CEEPUS program by using unused months within the CEEPUS networks, even though Ukraine is not formally a member of the program.
