The OECD INES Working Party meeting hosted in Zagreb by the Ministry of Science and Education
Minister of Science and Education, prof. dr. sc. Radovan Fuchs, opened the 32nd meeting of the Working Party on Indicators of Educational Systems (INES) held from October 17 to 19, 2023, in Zagreb.
This was followed by a presentation on the Croatian education system by State Secretary doc. dr. sc. Iva Ivanković. A visit to the Vladimir Prelog Science School was organized, during which students showcased their programs and practical work.The INES Working Party within the OECD focuses on indicators within education systems and annually releases the publication "Education at a Glance." This publication is the leading international compendium of comparable national statistics measuring the state of education worldwide and provides data on the structure, finances, and performance of education systems across OECD countries and a number of accession and partner countries.
For the first time, the meeting was hosted in Croatia, which saw the participation of over 50 delegates from across the globe while some joined online. The discussions primarily revolved around data collection on characteristics of schools, equity in education, early childhood education and care, teacher shortages, education finance, tuition fees and financial support to students, teacher shortages, and SDG 4 indicators.
