Croatia-Cyprus Excellence Hub on Eco-Innovative Technologies for Healthy and Productive Seas (SeaTecHub)
The Ministry of Science and Education participates as a partner in the Croatian-Cypriot SeaTecHub project, financed by the Horizon Europe programme under the call for proposals HORIZON-WIDERA-2022-ACCESS-04-01 - Excellence Hubs. The total project value is 4.999.577,50 EUR and is 100 % EU-funded. The estimated timeframe for the implementation of the project is four years.
The project coordinator is the Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI), while the consortium brings together 14 partners from Croatia and Cyprus. The Ministry of Science, Education and Youth is one of the partners that will focus on the research and education sector and participate in the evaluation committee that will evaluate the strategic documents.
The SeaTecHub consortium gathers around the idea of harnessing the potential of innovation ecosystems in Croatia and Cyprus, as well as new digital technologies, in order to accelerate the green and digital transition to the blue economy.
The objectives of the project are:
- to facilitate long-term cross-border and inter-sectoral collaboration to advance eco-innovative technologies for healthy and productive seas within Croatian and Cypriot innovation ecosystems;
- to perform joint research work within focus sectors to close knowledge gaps, consolidate and reinforce quadruple helix linkages, and validate strategy and action and investment plans (AIPs);
- to implement a set of mutual learning and skills development measures;
- to raise the visibility of Croatian-Cypriot innovation ecosystems by implementing strategic measures that foster networking, knowledge transfer, and collaboration.
The project focuses on the following five sectors:
- Aquaculture and fisheries
- Smart ports
- Maritime security and protection
- Maritime technologies
- Research and Education.
