25th CERIC-ERIC Call for Proposals Now Open

Application deadlines: 1 September 2026 at 17:00 CEST / 30 September 2026 at 17:00 CEST

The Central European Research Infrastructure Consortium (CERIC-ERIC) has announced a new Call for Proposals.

CERIC-ERIC provides researchers with access to more than 60 instruments and laboratories across 11 countries, offering a range of complementary state-of-the-art techniques in the fields of materials, biomaterials, and nanotechnology. A detailed overview of the available research facilities is available on the CERIC-ERIC website.

Access to CERIC is open to researchers from around the world and is free of charge, provided that the results and acquired data are made openly available in accordance with the CERIC Scientific Data Policy. A single proposal may request access to multiple instruments, with support for mobility.

Application deadlines:

  • 1 September 2026 (17:00 CEST) - pre-evaluation, with the opportunity to improve the proposal before final submission.
  • 30 September 2026 (17:00 CEST) - final submission (recommended for experienced users).

What's new in the 25th Call

As part of this Call, CERIC's portfolio has been expanded with four nuclear laboratories of the European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC), allowing studies of neutron-induced reactions, irradiations in well-characterised neutron and gamma fields and accurate measurements of radioactivity for science and technology applications.

Upgrades and maintenance

  • Elettra 2.0 - due to the ongoing upgrade of the synchrotron, part of the research infrastructure remains unavailable.
  • Ruđer Bošković Institute - the Croatian ion beam facility is in the final phase of a major upgrade of the accelerator building, and approved proposals will be executed starting in the summer of 2027.
  • SOLARIS - due to the expansion of the research infrastructure, the PHELIX beamline is not available under the current Call.
