Director-General Meštrić participated in the Informal meeting of EU Ministers for Research and Innovation in Warsaw
As part of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, an informal meeting of EU Ministers responsible for Research and Innovation was held in Warsaw, Poland, from 10 to 11 March 2025
During the meeting, two policy debates took place. The first debate focused Towards the European Strategy for Startups and Scaleups. The Head of the Croatian delegation, Meštrić, PhD, Director-General of the Directorate for Science and Technology, supported closing the innovation gap within the EU, emphasised the need to address the private financing gap, and highlighted the importance of ensuring a level playing field for all European companies. He also presented national good practices in financing companies through different stages of their growth, strengthening talent, and scheme for returning scientists.The topic of the second debate was the Strategic role of the future EU R&I framework programme for Europe’s competitiveness and beyond. During this discussion, Director Meštrić supported the continuation of a self-standing framework programme for research and innovation, emphasising the importance of further efforts in building synergies with other programmes and funds, further simplification of funding instruments, and continuation of the widening measures.
Finally, the Warsaw Declaration on the strategic role of the future EU R&I framework programme was supported.
